Ninjas in Pyjamas have won their sixth consecutive international title after defeating ESC Gaming in the NorthCon final. On de_train_se, NiP picked the highly-favoured CT side for the first half, and they got off to a great start in the match, winning the pistol round as they defused the bomb with two ESC players still alive. Despite giving a good account of themselves in the early stages of the game, ESC were seeing all those close rounds going the way of NiP, who strolled to a 5-0 lead. In the sixth round, the Polish team pulled out all the stops and went for a straight rush onto the outer bombsite, planting the bomb with all 10 players still alive and successfully holding down the site to get their first round of the match. However, NiP did not let ESC gain any momentum, restoring a five-round lead to break the Poles' economy and force them to make a double save. The Swedish team remained in the driving seat for the remainder of the first half as they boasted a staggering 14-1 lead at half-time. Now on CT side, ESC found a lifeline when they won the first two rounds, reducing the deficit to 11 rounds, but their dreams were crushed immediately after, with NiP taking two rounds in a row to win the map 16-3.
Both teams then moved on to de_mirage_csgo, where ESC Gaming started out the better and won the pistol round after their rush onto the B bombsite caught NiP by surprise, courtesy of Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas, who picked up four kills. After ESC added the second round to their tab, NiP then pulled one back following some impressive eco play. A lot of rounds were then exchanged between the two teams as neither side could stamp their authority on the game, but in the latter stages of the first half, NiP were able to counter most of ESC's strategies, with the scoreboard showing 10-5 in their favour at the break. In the second half, NiP went for a full A rush in the pistol round which completely tore apart ESC's defensive setup. The Swedish team went on to add the next two rounds, and with the scoreline now 13-5 in their favour, the Polish team knew they had a mountain to climb to turn the score around in this match. NiP then made it 15-5 to become just one round away from winning the tournament, and even though ESC were able to win a round of their own, it was simply too little, too late, as the Swedes walked out 16-6 winners to return home €5,000 richer.
